There are a number of kata & kumite courses held throughout each year (see Events Calendar) open to all students that hold a Shindo-Kai licence.

The Kumite course is split into groups to ensure sparring skills are improved whatever the age or level. For those seeking more of a challenge there is the opportunity to join the Shindo-Kai Kumite Squad coached by ex-World Champion & England Assistant Kumite Coach Sensei Paul Newby.

On the kata course students have an opportunity to learn a new grading kata, competition kata including katas from different styles (e.g. Shotokan or Shito-Ryu). If you are serious about competition kata then you can join the Shindo-Kai Kata Squad coached by England Senior Kata Squad Member Sensei Alex Gardener.

Both Kata Squad and Kumite Squad members compete at regional, national and international level competitions representing Shindo-Kai as well as internationally representing England.

Summer Course Weekend

The Shindo-Kai summer course weekend is held every May at the HavenPrimrose Valley Holiday Park, Filey, North Yorkshire.  This is a great weekend not only for the students but for all the family.  2013 was the 25th Anniversary Summer Course and proved to be a very special year with over 150 students attending.

Training is held at Scarborough Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon and on the beach (whatever the weather!) on Sunday.  The rest of the time is yours to socialise or do whatever you wish.

You can arrive any time in the weekend & leave any time. Just phone and book yourself in for a Friday to Monday 3 night weekend stay. The next summer course weekend is on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th May 2014.
